Coordinator of Line Editing for Electronic Publisher - Part time
Loose Id, LLC is a profitable startup looking to expand our team of talented professionals. We publish romance and erotica, releasing a minimum of four titles each week. If you have experience managing line editors, are detail oriented, possess solid computer skills, have access to a Windows PC and a rock-solid Internet connection, are responsible and reliable, and are looking for a part-time job you can do from home with potential for growth, read on.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Coordinator of Line Editing is responsible for ensuring that every book we publish is line edited competently and on schedule. This involves:
* assigning each book to the appropriate freelance line editor;
* sending due dates and reminding line editors of their due dates:
* raising a yellow flag when a book may not be line edited on time; developing creative solutions to ensure that problems with a line editor's personal life don't impact the schedule;
* communicating issues with the Editor in Chief and company owners when appropriate;
* reviewing the line edited manuscripts to gauge the effectiveness of each line editor and the appropriateness of her comments;
* recommending hiring and firing of line editors;
* e-mailing the edited manuscript files to a select group of staff members
REQUIREMENTS
Please do not apply if you don't meet ALL of the following requirements:
* Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory position, preferably supervising editors or proofreaders.
* Minimum of three years experience as a line editor, preferably in fiction.
* A reliable Internet connection.
* Your own PC.
* Able to meet deadlines without fail. If you've ever made an excuse for missing a deadline, this is not the job for you.
* Willing to work between 10 and 15 hours per week, from your home.
* Respect for the genre of romantic erotica, and for the customers who read it.
* Knowledge of electronic publishing highly desirable.
* If you pulled out a red pen and wanted to correct mistakes in this ad, this is the job for you.
