Full description:
Journalist needed to help research and write in-depth reports on usability trends. The reports are typically 200-400 pages long (70,000 words plus illustrations). The candidate will collect specific information and conduct interviews with various Web designers to learn about the process in which their designs came about, structure this information, and write case studies and analyses. The first research project will focus specifically on usability and intranet designs.
Candidates must be excellent writers in American English and have good interviewing and editing skills, good follow-through with interviewees over email and telephone, the ability to structure a large body of information, the ability to track and manage many image files with report illustrations, and some knowledge about enterprise computing, Web design, and usability. Also, must be comfortable using Microsoft Word on Windows to write very lengthy documents. The first writing project will run from July 2007 through the beginning of January 2008, with the possibility of additional projects later.
Each project usually requires between 1/3 and 1/2 time for about three months, with a smaller workload for another 1-2 months before and after this peak load. There is at least one project and sometimes two projects per year.
