Our Database Administrators establish the policies and procedures pertaining to database management, security, maintenance and utilization
.
KEY JOB ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
* Responsible for database planning and development activities:
* Sets and monitors database standards
* Monitors database efficiency and helps define and implement improvements
* Evaluates database vendor products in light of company needs
* Interacts with end users to determine database software and hardware needs.
* Installs and maintains database software including Plans and executes updates and upgrades for the databases in all environments
* Confers with appropriate managers regarding problems with and capabilities of databases.
* Helps develop a long-range plan for database systems
* Ensures that databases support the appropriate systems and are properly maintained
* Communicates status of projects to senior management
* Advises managers on database concepts and functional capabilities
* Recommends systems changes to programming management
* Works as part of a database administration team and provide 7x24x365 support
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
* 5 + years solid Oracle Experience, 10g is preferable
* 5 + experience in data management through the various stages of the development life cycle
* Good communication skills to interact with management, development teams and systems administration
* Good problem-solving skills
* Familiarity with MS SQL Server and DB2 is a plus
* Familiarity with Oracle 10g RAC is a plus
* Familiarity with Load Test Tools is a plus
* Familiarity with Linux, Unix and AIX is a plus
* Team player and also be able to work with customers
* Be part of a high energy team focused on full life-cycle development
* Proven ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
* Flexibility in working hours (will require some night and/or weekend support)
* Bachelors Degree required
