Mission
The mission of the Institute for PeaceBuilding (IPB) is fourfold: 1) To research and facilitate nonviolent solutions to domestic and international conflict, 2) To provide an understanding and experience of conflict resolution tools in schools and communities through resources, curriculum, teacher training, assemblies, community courses and parent training, 3) To mentor, consult and advise individuals and organizations in peaceful resolution of conflict, and 4) To collaborate with other organizations, including the UN, in programs, writing, speaking and teaching as vehicles to further the field of conflict resolution. The Institute offers an array of programs and initiatives by two very skilled and experienced cross-cultural Peacebuilders, tailoring trainings and courses to the needs of the organization or community.

History
The Institute for Peacebuilding (IPB) is an intiative of Pathways To Peace (PTP). PTP began in 1983 as an international PeaceBuilding, educational and consulting organization that has been a pioneer in the field of peacebuilding. IPB was launched in the late 1990's, originally called the Cultures of Peace Education Project, to work with schools in the San Francisco Bay Area to bring an experience and understanding of Peacebuilding practices through assemblies, classes, and teacher training, and to provide mentoring in peace leadership. It has grown to offer programs in different countries as an intergenerational and intercultural initiative, reaching youth in over 70 countries.
