Managing Editor of Special Reports
Business Valuation Resources (BVR), a fast growing financial publisher, seeks a Managing Editor of Special Reports to take charge of our new and successful line of renewable Guide products and lead our efforts to grow this department. The position requires active and continual involvement with internal staff and external experts. Reports may be created by acquiring material already written by outside authors, repackaging in-house material, creating new content internally, contracting with external authors to create new content or by other creative means. This positions reports to the Publisher. We welcome a motivated and creative self starter who wants to take charge of a key product line. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Main responsibilities include:
- managing the creation of annually updateable Special Reports (binder products of 200+ page content) on various subjects in the business valuation profession. Our goal is one new Special Report every 4 to 6 weeks reaching a total of 20 or more titles
- editing of Special Reports and other BVR-originated content
- locating external authors and extensive contact with and coordination of these authors
- collaborating with Publisher and others on subject matter selection
- staying abreast of the most relevant and important topics in the profession
Requirements include:
- Bachelors degree
- experience working with external authors and experts to create new products
- accounting, finance, business appraisal or publishing experience a strong plus
- excellent writing and editing skills
- superior project management skills
- sense of urgency on deadlines
- ability to work well with others
- some travel will be required
- computer skills; InDesign experience a plus
- skilled multi-tasker
- drive to take ownership of projects
- superb communications skills
- willingness to collaborate with other departments
