SF Bay View is growing, needs production help immediately
The San Francisco Bay View, a weekly Black newspaper publishing in print and online, is expanding and looking for people with one or more of the following skills to start work immediately:
• Newspaper layout – currently using Quark, could switch to InDesign
• Copy editing – using the AP Stylebook
• Web design – www.sfbayview.com
For the print edition, you would be producing a 12-20 page paper to be ready for the printer every Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.
For the website, you would post all the stories from the print edition weekly plus web exclusives and other features through the week. The site was hacked and needs extensive rebuilding. Before it was hacked, it averaged 2 million hits a month.
For all positions, you must have
• a passion for Black liberation and familiarity with the Black community and
• substantial experience, preferably with newspapers.
The work is part time but could be full time if you have multiple skills. You would work either at the Bay View office in the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco or from your location, so long as you keep in touch and meet deadlines.
