Full description:

The editorial division of an established medical education and communication company is looking for a full-time editor to help manage the development of multimedia continuing medical education (CME) content. The editor will work with a senior editor and a medical director on multiple projects in various specialties.

Candidates must have 2-3 years experience in medical copy editing and/or content editing, solid familiarity with medical terminology, and knowledge of AMA style. Project management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a tight, deadline-oriented environment are required. An understanding of the rules and regulations governing the development of continuing education content is preferred.

The office is located in Midtown Manhattan, but the employee will have the opportunity to work from home. This position comes with growth potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Copyedit and proofread content and fact check/cross check content using primary references
• Work with graphics team to create/revise slides, charts, and graphs for CME activities
• Maintain appropriate style per in-house editorial style guide (familiarity with AMA style required)
• Manage documents to ensure version control
• Manage the work flow of multiple projects to ensure the successful completion of assigned continuing education activities

Required Skills and Experience

• 2-3 years of medical copyediting and/or content editing
• Project management experience
• Undergraduate university degree in science, communications, or journalism (advanced degree in any of these areas helpful)
• Solid familiarity with medical terminology and working knowledge of AMA style
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Professional
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Proven record for attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects at one time, meet deadlines, and thrive under pressure
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities
• Self-motivated and team-oriented
