Full description:

My final year project is based on FPGA which i implemented on Altera DE2 board. My final year project consist of four module of which two are implemented on FPGA using Verilog HDL as a coding language. The first is Face Recognition Using FPGA. In this module i uses the DE2 board demonstration of DE2_TV, by using this demonstration i can detect the image and can do edge detection. I have done some amendments in the original DE2_TV using Verilog HDL according to my requirements. The project uses Canon Digital camera with its NTSC format. The DE2 board is equipped with 10 bit TV decoder IC which converts the incoming image into RGB format and displayed on VGA. When a person comes in the territory of camera its image i being taken edge detection is done. For this project i developed a algorithm named Distorting Pixels algorithm. The second module is FPGA based Digital Fuel Gauge. The module actually tells the digital value of the petrol remaining in the tank of the automobile. and the value of the fuel for the respective week is entered through the keypad. in this module i interfaced 4*4 keypad and an external LCD of 16*2 size through the GPIO of Altera DE2 board using Verilog HDL. the value entered from Keypad is displayed on the LCD. As in DE2 board we can not do ADC so external ADC is done by Atmega 8 and its digital value is put on the GPIO. the ADC value is used and a lookup table is constructed from which it is calculated how much fuel is remaining in the tank and displayed on the LCD. I have also worked on SRAM of DE2 board, 16*2 LCD of DE2 board. I am using Quatrus 9.1 sp1 web edition for making .sof file to program the DE board. I have also worked on SOPC(System on Programmable Chip) and soft core processor NIOS of Altera. I have also worked on Spartan 3E of xilinx using ISE 11.1 version.
I have designed my own logic and verilog HDL code for interfacing 4*4 keypad and external LCD of 16*2 with the GPIO of Altera DE2 board. whenever a key is pressed on Keypad the respective digit will be shown on LCD. I have also developed my own code for programming SRAM and Seven Segment for displaying the digits pressed by Keypad. The values will be entered in SRAM from the Switches and will be displayed on Seven segment. By using DE2_TV example i can detect any color by using its RGB pixel information.
